My thoughts about poverty and happiness
According to what Mr Chua had shown in the lesson that though Singapore is providing citizens with more experienced well-being and living the citizens in Singapore to a higher life expectancy and having more ecological footprint than how China is doing for their citizens, the citizens in China seems to have a higher happiness index score than those in Singapore, I think that poverty and happiness are not related.
Instead, from what I observed in my daily life being in a country with higher living standard, Singaporeans are busier and have less free time to do what they really like to relax. Hence, Singaporeans will get more stressed and stressed due to the never-stop-increasing pile of work for them. On the other hand, my aunts and uncles in China has more flexible working hours, allowing them to have enjoyable time, making them feel relieved, hence making them feel happier.
Therefore, I think that being rich does not necessary mean that one is happy.

Reflections of my personal experience at Chingay
The whole year 2 cohort went to watch the rehearsal of Chingay 2016 at last Saturday evening. Despite the flu I was having that night, I was still cheering and having fun that evening as I can feel the enthusiasm and passion of everyone there that evening including all the students from around 60 schools, the participants volunteer, the emcees for the night and definitely the performers.
For someone for me who like songs, the Chingay song"People, people,we are one. Chingay, chingay,we are one.Singapore,Singapore,we are one" took much of my attention. Now, thinking only about its lyrics, I realised that there is a lot of repetition of the phrase"we are one".Thus i think Chingay is mostly about bringing the whole nation together as one Singapore by involving people in different generations and races. Being multi-rational is important to Singapore as we are known for having many religious and races. Thus the purpose of Chingay is to promote racial harmony.
Chingay was started by our founding fathers after they realised that the law of not being able to play with fire crackers during Chinese New Year had made the atmosphere during Chinese New Year down in order to let the citizens celebrate Chinese New Year as a nation together and also to hyper up the Chinese New Year atmosphere. Chingay in the early days has been more traditional with the stilt-walkers and flag bearers.  On the other hand, Chingay 2016 is more about being a united nation with different generations and races. Nowadays, they invite the people from other countries like Japan and Malaysia to join in Chingay 2016. I believe this great change in the purposes from celebrating Chinese New Year to promoting racial harmony has its reason, which is because flying on an airplane is not as convenient as now to the people then when Chingay just started. Nowadays, we can travel during the holiday period but to the people in the past it isn't the way. We can also do much more fun things now like watching the television as a family together now hence celebrating Chinese New Year (CNY) is not as efficient as before. However, to still bring out the high atmosphere that  we have during CNY,the activities are then arranged to celebrate racial harmony.
In my opinion, I believed that the organisers still fulfilled the original purpose as they did make most of the audiences feel relaxed and pleased after seeing the performances although there are less traditional performances now.

Three,two,one(Reflection of lesson)
3: The three things I learnt from the lesson last week is the few consequences of gross domestic product(GDP) increases, the causes of the one child policy in china and lastly the impacts of the act.
The higher the GDP, the more time the people in the country needs to work which will then directly affect his emotions as he will then have less time to spend with his beloved ones or doing what he enjoy. The GDP will then increase the tax. With higher taxes, the rich ones will get richer as they are the people collecting the tax and the poor gets poorer. This will lead to the increase in amount of cars on the road as more people can afford them, causing a higher possibility of traffic jam.
The causes of the one child policy implementation in China since the early 1970s are due to inability to provide enough infrastructure, low supply for education which all leads to the drop of economics. Then, there was lack of furniture like tables and chairs and also a good teacher. With a great population of people due high birth rates, it limited the demand of resources like water and space which are essential for building the needed infrastructure. Most importantly, the population growth outstrip the food growth, leading to famine.
This implementation then causes much problem that was never found out earlier. It caused the imbalance of the number of male children and female ones. They believed that giving birth to a son is more beneficial to them as boys are better than girls, hence when some family found out that they had a baby girl, they will try to discard her. Now in China, there is more males to females leading to much more problems like inability to form families.

2: The two perception gained are the point of view we used to see the things we encountered is only for us however it may be different in other point of views, like for example I think that the one child policy is beneficial as it provides more convenience and benefits to the country itself but on the other side, it sacrifices many innocent lives of baby girls and the children will grow up in an environment without any siblings where is proven that will make the child more self-centred. The other one is there is a trade off in everything we do. In Singapore, despite a higher GDP, it is proven that we are not as happy as China who has lower GDP.

1:The question I have is "Is it really impossible to have happy residents and high GDP ?"

Postcard for China Buddy

Reflection for day 1 and 2
On 24 May 2016, the trip started HORRIBLY.  My friend and I got stuck in a traffic jam and were late by about 10 minutes that morning, despite the fact I woke up rather early that morning just to prevent that from happening. After getting assembled we went to check in, which was when we got our tickets and saw the seat number. That made the class quite excited. I was seating in between of one of my groupmate, Lexuan and another girl called Chenxi. On the plane, it was like heaven( maybe even better than home cause no one to control me). When we just board the plane, they provided us with warm towel. Next, every passenger has a screen for themselves where there is many new movies, television programmes, music and games which was really useful to entertain myself for the whole trip. Moreover, they really try their best to cater to every passenger’s needs, for instance , one of the boys in the class asked for 3 more ice cream and even red wine ( which they would obviously not provide for him). After 6 hours of flight, we finally reached China. I felt refreshed once I reached China ( I mean the air in China smells somewhat different than Singapore, as for me). Another interesting thing that day was the trip from Shanghai to Nanjing via the bullet train. I really looked forward to taking this thing as I haven’t been on it before but to be truthful, it wasn't as good as what I expected out of it. The first reason is due to the lack of sufficient over-head storage place for the luggage which resulted in my luggage having to stay on the floor and for some weird reason the train isn't straight when it is moving(or maybe it was too fast), my luggage kept on moving to the left side which was the walkway so I had to keep it in front of me using my foot. Secondly, the stopping time was too short and some of the class almost did not have time to board the train via the can't-be-any-smaller door. Yeah! After getting off the train we then returned to the hotel. Please note that we reached the hotel in the night.
On the second day, we woke up at 6.30 which was much later than what I thought. After assembling in the hall, we then went to Nanjing Bole Middle School. When we arrived there, I was rather shocked because I thought the school will be like any other schools in Singapore but surprisingly it was very small compared to RV school campus. However, they have like 6 basketball courts which replaced where our field are at when we only have 2 of them(including the hostel basketball court). We had one lesson with them that day which was used to welcome us to their class. One weird thing that I realised that day is that they thought that we, Singaporeans, are like the Ang-mos, who don't know dumplings and many other basic Chinese cultures and food. We went to many places that day, which includes Yangtze River Bridge, Yuejiang Tower and Fuzimiao Commercial Area, which is local tourist attractions in Nanjing. Yangtze River Bridge and  Yuejiang Tower taught me a lot knowledge on the history of China, for example at Yuejiang Tower, I learnt that during the Ming Dynasty, there was a total of 16 emperors but there's only 15 funerals. The place which I loved a lot was Fuzimiao Commercial Area. Why? There was so much awesome and delicious food there which I had never tried before which was really important for me cause I love food( which explains my size). I tried the local delicacy , 鸭血粉丝汤,which the teachers that may cause 肠胃不适. But for my taste buds and ambitious stomach I tried it which was really awesome. My best friend, Xingyu and I bought a few key chains in one of the shops as it was really very cheap. I also bought some local food to bring back to Singapore to share with my family.

Reflection on Day3 and 4
On the third day, we got the morning call at a later time than Day 2 as we arrived very early than expected on Day 2 so the teachers thought that we can go off later. For some reason, we were a little late that day but never mind, the day still continued as it was planned. That day we had Chinese lesson with them about . It's not me boosting but I am really quite at Chinese and I understood the lesson( Hahahah). Though the lesson, I realised the drastic difference between the students there and we, the RV students:
1.   They were very proactive in the class when the teacher asked question even though there wasn't any rewards for them if they answered the questions, they all replied the teacher and wasn't fearful of making a mistake.
2.  Although they had mini-conversations in the class but those were for the contents related to the lesson. (My buddy and the person sitting in front her were having one themselves so I am quite sure).
That was the last day we had with them, so we had gifts for each other and also talked a lot about many things, including the kpop boy band, Exo. I was extremely sad and depressed when we boarded the bus and was ready to leave, but I tried to prevent myself from crying(I am not telling y'all whether I was successful). The next place we went was the Nanjing Museum which I really dreaded going as I am someone more of listener so I really can't learn much if I was just reading something. Luckily, our tour guide brought us through the museum and explained those artefacts that more important due to time constraints. One of them is 留院, not meaning to be hospitalized but that's the name of one model that is supposed to resemble one of the buildings in the past, one of the possible reason for its name is the owner of the building has the surname of . (I'm so sorry but I deleted all the notes I took for Day 3 by accident). Last venue we went to before returning back to hotel to relax was Nanjing Presidential Palace, which I personally thinks that is the funniest out the day. It was less formal than I thought(which is like Istana). When we walked in, the tour guide stopped us right in front of the main gate and pointed out the flag pole without any flag on it, he explained to us the reason of not having any flag on it. The Nanjing Presidential Palace used to be the place the government works at and at that point of time, there will always be flag on the pole but after they changed the capital to Shanghai, they moved out of this place and hence, not being the place the government works at, the flag is also removed from the pole. At there, I learnt a lot about Sun Yat Sen, especially after seeing the pictures there about Sun Yat Sen. One of them also includes the 晚晴园in Singapore where he went to collect money from the other people in order to start a revolution. Other pictures also includes his portrait after learning medicine in Hawaii. Wait! I almost forget that we went to the local supermarket to know the cost of living in China by comparing the prices of things that is essential to life, food. Believe it or not, the five of us in the group almost filled up a cart and the people behind us who was also wanting to pay was also very annoyed. In addition, despite buying so much things, it only costs 200yuan( around S$40), which was paid by our fabulous leader.
On Day 4, we woke up even later as we did not have to rush to Nanjing Bole Middle School to attend lesson with them anymore. That day was really a bad-luck day as we visited so many places which has relationship with dead people in on day, which includes Nanjing Massacre Museum, Dr. Sun Yat Sen’s Mausoleum and Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum. See what I mean……. So we started the day by visiting Nanjing Massacre Museum, which I thought will be very gruesome( I mean anyone will think of it like that after knowing its name) so I was quite prepared to see those kind of things in the museum but to my surprise, it wasn't very disgusting except for a few videos that was played on the television but after walking through the museum and reading the informations patiently, my emotions went down( maybe was also partly due to the background music and the dark lighting inside). However, once I went out of the place and saw the green grass, I was okay and back to the normal self again. Then continuing on with this trip, we went to Dr. Sun Yat Sen’s Mausoleum which was very awesome for me cause there was very minimum talking and explaining there, more importantly, we were free at the very start. Yippee! Freedom!!!!! Okay let's continue. So, basically for me, I really did not learn much at Dr. Sun Yat Sen’s Mausoleum but instead the fats I gain that few days was all burned. For so,e reason I was really interested in climbing the stairs and due to the fact that my best friend and I are both Leos, we can't allow people to reach the top faster than us(which happened as we started climbing later than them =unfair), but I am rather sure that we are the 5th and 6th to reach the top among the class and the teachers which made me quite proud and HAPPY:) So one of the informations I learnt there is that the reason for the stairs to be steeper and steeper is for people to bend lower and lower to show their gratitude to Dr. Sun Yat Sen. Like when you are climbing steep stairs, your body will bend forward also de. Moving on, we went to Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum where all the explaining returned. But the only part I was interested was about the 石像 of different animals: 石象, 骆驼,獬豸,石狮 and 麒麟. There is different meanings for every animals: camel symbolizes peace, 獬豸symbolizes justice, the elephant symbolizes vividness and simplicity. Day 4 was the last day for us in Nanjing and also the last day of us with our tour guide in Nanjing. When having our last meal with him, some of us went to take a picture with him and after the meal, we took a class photo with him.

Reflection on Day 5 and 6
On day 5, we woke up quite early, maybe 6.30(?) cause we need to check out of our hotel since we are going to SHANGHAI!!!!!!!!!! My luggage was surprisingly easy to pack, like I was quite early that day compared to the actual time to meet. I was hoping a lot to go to Shanghai since it was the 最繁荣city in China but I have never been there. So disappointing….. Moreover, my best friend’s hometown is Shanghai, so she knows 上海话 which is essential in Shanghai in many areas, for example when you go buy things and speaks mandarin or worse, English, they know that you are not native so they will raise the price by a lot which is not beneficial for me. The plan for that day was actually Suzhou Silk Factory which we stopped by when travelling to Shanghai, Qibao Ancient Town and Oriental Pearl TV tower( 东方明珠) and Municipal History Museum. On the bus, the class was nonstop partying, luckily our teachers are kind even though to let us be so, more importantly, it was Mr Chua who started the singing thingy which ended up having so many of our classmates singing, ahem…. But that die down quite soon, so a few girls including me began playing kpop songs. It was indeed fun but that will not happen again cause it's impossible to have the whole group to go to holiday together again. Sho sad……:( When we reached Suzhou Silk Factory, it was drizzling (which had continued from a few days ago), so the weather was very cooling. I was very excited when going inside as I used to have a silkworm as a pet when I, at a young age, was in China. I am scared of insects but not this kind of worm which i find really chubby(?) and cute. So I was playing with them when I saw the silkworms on the table by putting them on my hand. So I was not really interested in the other areas of this factory but I still paid attention since they are knowledge and are beneficial to me. So basically they take care of the silkworms and let them grow. When they turned into a pupae, they will be put the pupae into hot water as the pupae is made out of silk which is what they want to make the silk be loosen, hence, easy to separate.  However, the silkworm will die in the process (which made me very annoyed). Then later, the pupae will be moved to a machine which will separate the silk and keeping when throwing away the dead silkworm. Then tada ~~~
Next we went to have lunch where we consumed a lot of liquid before setting off to Shanghai which the guide says will at most take 3 hours. After that, we were stuck when on the highway where there's no WASHROOM!!!!!! (On the side note, it was a Saturday, 3 in the afternoon and the journey took about 4++++hours) This is a tragedy where most of the class needed the washroom so badly but there wasn't. I should not continue with the details. Another thing that happened on the bus is that the teachers decided to change our route since Qibao Ancient Town is an outdoor tourist attraction but it was raining then so they let us go shopping at the 假货市场 at the train station in Shanghai. (I was agreeing to this decision so much cause I really wanted buy things from China to bring back to Singapore as it is so cheap). When we reached the假货市场, I really sticked to Xingyu since I can't 砍价, I really needed her help. We bought lots of things there, including clothing, stickers and other useful stuffs. And then we went to have dinner and lastly a night tour at 东方明珠 and Municipal History Museum. So, Xingyu who is scared of heights, was very afraid when we were waiting to go up there but for some reason, she was the one more enthu to take photos up there. Yeah, the third last day just ended:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

On Day 6, we went to visit Shanghai Museum, French Concession, had hands-on activity at Gongyi Xintiandi(公益新天地) and had free time at Book Store and Nanjing Road. So even the two peeps from haven't heard about somewhere called Shanghai Museum, I thought that it won't be as useful as Nanjing Museum. However, despite being smaller in size, I learnt a lot there, cause the things the guide said was interesting for me, the reason for 观音 to be called 千手观音. Next destination is Gongyi Xintiandi where we painted 脸谱. So due to my shaky hands, I ruined my work by accidentally painting red in the white area. I was so sorry for it but can't help it anymore. Everyone was provided with a frame to frame up our work and I decided to keep it as a memory in Shanghai when I returned Singapore.
Next, comes the whole shopping time of the trip, from French Concession where I treated Xingyu ice-cream for her help to Book store where I bought lots of pens, books and even piano scores and lastly to Nanjing road where I bought 蝴蝶酥 which is like local delicacy of Shanghai ( it tastes awesome).
When we went back to our hotel, the debrief for that day was really saddening, I cried like 3/4 times (not including the times I cried on the bus and in the hotel room) .
So….. We were only left with one more day before returning to Singapore, I hope that it will be wonderful.

Reflection on last day
Today is the last day in China. After the saddening debrief yesterday( after crying so much) , I promised my friend that I will leave this awesome place with a bright attitude and will really try my best to not cry(which is impossible as I am very emotional ). I remembered that day we woke up quite early(I swear that the phone is very soft). It was really difficult to pack my things despite I was trying my best to stuff my things into my luggage (I really packed a little last night but it was too late) which resulted to my roommate and I being slightly late. There's only one place that we needs to go that day, the Volkswagen factory in  Shanghai. Having an ambition of being an engineer when grown up, I was really interested in this thing(although I know any girl shouldn't be). When we arrived, they first showed us a video made according to their history and also introduced us to the different types of cars they had manufactured and the few different other car factories in China which I had the least interest in since I am not even planning to have a car when I grow up, I mean when there are public transport, why is their a need to waste money to private cars( okay…I sound too mature). And after moving through another few roads, we arrived at the FACTORY!!!!!!!!. So basically we seat on the elongated car-like vehicle which is slower than my walking speed when traveling around the factory. I saw some videos online before coming how cars are assembled, but seeing the different separated parts of the car we seat everyday was really amazing. I was really interested when they assemble the car door to the main body. Despite our appearance, they worked as per normal as if they were used to this. After leaving the car factory, we set off to have our last lunch of the trip, 海底捞,which was specially planned by the teachers for us. So after arriving, my group decided to seat with each other at one table. After that, we went to get our sauces, which I really didn't use when eating. When eating the food, the three of us whose hometown is China kept throwing the food into the spicy area and we also ordered two more plates of 羊肉which vanished the moment it appears on the table and was all thrown into the pot. The food that I loved the most is the fried thingy that they provided, which I supposed should be used to make the mouth not spicy(at least I used it for that purpose). After the lunch, we really has to say goodbye to China, but to my surprise, 2F was also there, boarding the plane. The funniest part is that the class agreed on wearing house tee which was the same color as 2F on the last day and so did 2F, so people boarding the plane can only see a sea of blue.

不知不觉中,我们一起度过了七天的美好时光,希望以后还能有机会。

This trip to China is definitely not my first but obviously the most memorial one.
